Wahab Abubakar: Black Lions FC sign Ghana goalkeeper from Holy Stars

Date:

Ghana goalkeeper Wahab Abubakar has joined Botswana club Black Lions FC, beginning a new chapter after leaving Holy Stars FC.

The 22-year-old completed the move on 23 August 2026 and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027. Abubakars arrival gives Black Lions FC a new option in goal as they build their squad for the 2026-27 season.

Abubakar spent the previous two seasons with Holy Stars FC, having joined the club from Shooting Stars in August 2024. His move to Black Lions FC marks the latest step in a career that began with Accra Lions, where he played before switching to Shooting Stars in July 2023.

The goalkeeper was born in Adabraka on 21 April 2004 and stands at 1.94m. He is right-footed and operates as a goalkeeper, the position in which he has made each of his recorded club moves.

His transfer history includes a move from Shooting Stars to Holy Stars FC in 2024, following his earlier departure from Accra Lions for Shooting Stars in 2023. Before that, he had joined Accra Lions in August 2022.

Abubakars contract with Black Lions FC links him to the club through the end of June 2027. He joins from a Ghanaian club to continue his career with the Botswana side, with the transfer completed at the start of the new campaign.

Black Lions FC have therefore secured the services of Wahab Abubakar through 30 June 2027.
