Regina Yayra Adenyo elected UCC SRC Vice President

Date:

Regina Yayra Adenyo has been elected Vice President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) following the successful conduct of the university’s 2026 SRC elections.

She was elected alongside SRC President-elect Emmanuel Nana Adjei Acheampong on the Nyame Tease ticket after the pair secured 7,001 votes, representing 53.2% of the total valid votes cast.

Their victory followed a closely contested election held on June 17, 2026.

A member of Valco Hall, Regina Yayra Adenyo campaigned on a platform centred on inclusiveness, student welfare, unity and transformational leadership, themes that resonated with students across the university.

The Nyame Tease ticket won eight of the university’s ten halls of residence, including Atlantic Hall, Adehye Hall, Oguaa Hall, Valco Trust Hall, Valco Hall, SRC Hall, GUSSS Hall and UHMS Hall. The team also secured victories at UCC’s satellite campuses at Nyakrom and Dominase.

Speaking after the declaration of results, Regina Yayra Adenyo thanked students for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to work closely with the President-elect and other stakeholders to fulfil their campaign promises.

She said the incoming administration would prioritise initiatives aimed at improving student welfare and campus life.

Among the key proposals outlined by the new leadership are the restoration of the 10GB data, 500 call minutes and 200 SMS package for students, expansion of Wi-Fi coverage across campus, increased scholarship opportunities, construction of a student mini-mart, advocacy for improved roads and lecture facilities, and the continuation of the SRC Hall Annex accommodation project.

Students and well-wishers have since congratulated the Vice President-elect, expressing confidence in her ability to contribute meaningfully to student governance.

Regina Yayra Adenyo and Emmanuel Nana Adjei Acheampong are expected to officially assume office after the completion of the constitutional transition process and formal handover by the outgoing SRC administration.
