Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku says football will play a key role in helping Japanese multinational Meiji Holdings Company Limited expand the presence of its SAVAS sports nutrition products in Ghana.Speaking after Meiji presented a support package to the GFA and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Football Association, Okraku said the popularity of football provides an opportunity for the company to reach a wider market.Football is and will always be a good vehicle for SAVAS in terms of market penetration strategy, Okraku said.The GFA President said the Football Association would work to ensure the relationship benefits both organisations as discussions continue towards a broader partnership.We will leverage this relationship and explore ways of ensuring the partnership is mutually beneficial, he added.Meijis initial support package includes SAVAS sports nutrition supplements and protein shakes, as well as further financial commitment towards health and nutrition coaching.The proposed long-term partnership will focus on sports nutrition and player performance, youth football development, womens football, health and nutrition education, coaching and technical development.The two organisations are also exploring opportunities to introduce SAVAS products to the Ghanaian market through the reach and popularity of football, subject to agreed commercial arrangements.The MoU was signed by Okraku on behalf of the GFA and Meiji Holdings CEO Katsunari Matsuda for the Japanese company during a ceremony at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Monday, September 14, 2026.Discussions towards a broader partnership are expected to continue into 2027.
