How Okyeame Kwame has been screening 1,000 people annually for hepatitis for 16 years

Date:

Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Okyeame Kwame has revealed details of an initiative he says has been running for 16 years.

Speaking on Channel One TV, monitored by MyNewsGh, the musician said he has been working with health institutions to provide free hepatitis screening and vaccination services.

“Currently, for the past 16 years, myself in partnership with MDS Lancet Laboratory and Noguchi, we’ve been organising free hepatitis screening and vaccination for 1,000 people every year,” he said.

According to him, the initiative is usually tied to World Hepatitis Day, observed annually on July 28.

“So 28th of July is World Hepatitis Day. And so every year we do something.”

The revelation places a spotlight on the rapper’s work beyond entertainment, particularly in the area of health advocacy and preventive care.
