Date:

Ghanaian defender Ebenezer Annan is closing in on a move to Romanian side Rapid Bucharest after the two clubs reached an agreement over a loan deal that includes an option to buy for around 1 million.Annan has already agreed personal terms with Rapid and is expected in Bucharest in the coming days to undergo his medical examination and complete the move.Rapid official Marius Bilasco confirmed that the 23-year-old is keen on the transfer.Ebenezer wants to come; there is no problem on his side, Bilasco said on Fanatik Superliga. The agreement between Rapid and Saint-Etienne includes a purchase option believed to be close to 1 million euros, although Bilasco indicated that the figure would be above 500,000 eurosThe move comes after interest from Swedish side Malmo FF temporarily complicated Annans departure from Saint-Etienne. The Swedish club had also explored a deal for the Ghanaian, but eventually moved for another target, allowing Rapid to revive their pursuit.Annan is not part of new Saint-Etienne coach Ian Cathros plans, and his impending departure represents another step in the French clubs efforts to reshape their squad. He joined Saint-Etienne from Red Star Belgrade in August 2025 in a deal worth around 2 million euros. He remains under contract with the French club until June 2028, but is now set to continue his career in Romania, where Rapid will have the opportunity to make his transfer permanent at the end of the loan spell.
