The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has invested GH1.8 million over the past two seasons to train 600 Colts coaches through its CAF Licence D Coaching Programme.GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku disclosed this during the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.The three-year programme targets 900 Colts coaches, with the final phase scheduled to take place this year.Okraku said the investment is aimed at ensuring young players receive proper technical guidance while developing in a safe and structured environment.It is about ensuring that the young player who walks onto a Colts pitch encounters a coach who understands technique, player development, safeguarding, discipline and the responsibility that comes with shaping a child’s future, he said.The GFA President also revealed that the association has invested US$100,000 annually over the past three years in the purchase of footballs for Colts clubs.That brings the investment in footballs to US$300,000 over the three years.The GFA says the investments form part of its broader strategy to strengthen grassroots football and create a sustainable pathway for young players to progress from Colts football to elite development, professional football and the national teams.
