Gewah Hospital Launches Free Healthcare Screening For Ghanaians

Date:

GEWAH Hospital Ltd, under the leadership of its President and Board Chairman, Dr. Alex Kwame Appiah, has announced a nationwide Free Healthcare Screening Programme for members of the public, aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and improving the overall well-being of Ghanaians.

The month-long exercise, scheduled to run from 15th July to 15th August 2026, will be held at GEWAH Hospital Ltd, Weija Gbawe Topbase Road, Accra, and is open to all members, staff, workers, executives, families, churches, institutions, and companies across Ghana.

According to Dr. Appiah, the initiative seeks to encourage citizens to regularly monitor their health status, detect potential health conditions early, and adopt healthier lifestyles.

“A healthy nation is a productive nation. Through this programme, we want to ensure that more people have access to quality health screening services regardless of their financial situation,” Dr. Appiah stated.

The free healthcare screening programme forms part of Dr. Appiah’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian service. Since 2009, he has consistently organized annual healthcare outreach programmes that have benefited thousands of individuals, particularly residents within the Weija-Gbawe Municipality and surrounding communities.

Over the years, Dr. Appiah’s humanitarian efforts have extended beyond healthcare. Through various social intervention programmes, he has provided support in areas such as business financing, educational assistance, professional development, legal advisory services, child welfare, women empowerment, human rights advocacy, drug abuse prevention, and community development.

These initiatives have been strengthened through partnerships and collaborations with both local and international organizations, including institutions associated with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC).

Speaking on his vision for national development, Dr. Appiah emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for young people through education, entrepreneurship, employment support, and international cooperation.

“Our mission is to serve humanity without discrimination. We believe every Ghanaian deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life regardless of their ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, or social background,” he noted.

The programme will operate seven days a week from Monday to Sunday, allowing maximum participation from individuals and groups across the country. Members of the public may book appointments in advance or visit the facility as walk-in participants during the screening period.

Health experts have consistently highlighted the importance of regular medical screening in the prevention and management of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions. The initiative by GEWAH Hospital is therefore expected to contribute significantly to public health awareness and early detection efforts.

The management of GEWAH Hospital has encouraged churches, corporate organizations, educational institutions, community groups, and families to take advantage of the free screening programme and prioritize their health.
