Date:

Ghanaian lower-tier club Cheetah Football Club have announced a strategic partnership with Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent, aimed at strengthening youth development and creating international opportunities for talented Ghanaian footballers. The agreement is expected to establish a direct pathway between the Ghanaian club and their Belgian counterparts, with a focus on talent identification, technical development and player progression. As part of the collaboration, Gent’s sporting director and technical scouting team will make periodic visits to Cheetah’s facilities in Senya Beraku to assess emerging talents within the academy. The visits will also provide an opportunity for technical exchange, with Gent expected to offer valuable support and expertise to Cheetah’s local coaching staff as both clubs work towards improving their player development structures.A key component of the partnership is the opportunity for selected Cheetah players to travel to Belgium for trials at Gent. The arrangement will give promising youngsters the chance to showcase their abilities before the Belgian club’s technical team, with the possibility of securing permanent professional contracts.Cheetah have established a reputation for identifying and developing promising African footballers, having played a role in the development of several players who have gone on to make their mark in the professional game.Among the notable names associated with the club are former Ghana international Christian Atsu, Alhassan Wakaso, Kwasi Sibo, Ernest Ohemeng, Mohammed Iddriss and Emmanuel Toku. The partnership with Gent represents another significant milestone in Cheetah’s ambition to create international opportunities for emerging Ghanaian talents. The collaboration also offers Gent an opportunity to strengthen their scouting presence in Ghana and gain closer access to one of Africa’s established talent-producing markets. The agreement is expected to provide a platform for greater cooperation between the two clubs while opening new doors for young Ghanaian footballers aspiring to build professional careers in Europe.
