
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung says the Bundesliga club sees significant long-term potential in new Ghanaian signing Lawrence Setordjie after completing the teenager’s move from Accra Lions.The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joined Frankfurt after impressing during Accra Lions’ recent European tour and will initially continue his development with the club’s U21 side.Hardung believes Setordjie’s experience at senior level, coupled with his technical qualities, made him an ideal addition to the club.”Lawrence Setordjie is a young, talented player who has already gained experience at the senior level and captained the Accra Lions team last season,” Hardung said.The Frankfurt sporting director highlighted the Ghanaian’s pace, agility and technical ability as attributes that convinced the club to invest in him.”His explosive speed, agility and clean technique bring exciting qualities that we see as offering further potential for development.”Hardung also stressed that Frankfurt are committed to supporting the teenager’s transition both on and off the pitch as he settles into a new country and football environment.”We will support him both on and off the pitch to the best of our ability so that he can quickly settle in Germany and at Eintracht Frankfurt and take the next steps in his development.”The move is another success story for Accra Lions’ player development model and strengthens the partnership between the Ghanaian club and Eintracht Frankfurt, which was established to create pathways for emerging talents to European football.Setordjie made more than 50 senior appearances for Accra Lions and captained the side last season before earning his move to the Bundesliga club.
