Pinky Pecks ‘Spotlight Gyal’ EP Launch: A Night of Dancehall and Live Band Magic

On August 12, 2023, Shades Lounge Osu was set ablaze as Pinky Pecks, the Spotlight Gyal, unveiled her highly anticipated EP, “Spotlight Gyal.” The event was a mesmerizing fusion of dancehall and live band performances, leaving the audience in awe.

Performing dancehall with a live band is no easy feat, as most artists in the genre rely heavily on pre-recorded tracks. However, Spotlight Gyal broke barriers by showcasing her talent. The fusion of dancehall rhythms and live instrumentation created an electrifying atmosphere that had the crowd on their feet.

Renowned Ghanaian music producer and entertainment pundit, Fred Kyei Mensah popularly known as Uncle Fredyma joined Socrate Safo, the Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture, at Pinky Pecks’ “Spotlight Gyal Ep” held at Shades Lounge, Osu on the night. Their presence added immense talent, expertise, and artistic vision to the event, making it a truly unforgettable night of music and celebration.

Adding to the excitement of the night, dancehall icon Shegah, formerly known as Shegee Styla, made a special appearance, captivating the crowd with her powerful vocals and lyrical prowess. The presence of Shegah elevated the event to new heights, solidifying its status as a standout moment in the dancehall scene. Linguakat, the legendary dancehall songwriter and mastermind behind Kaaki’s hit songs and now the songwriter for Pinky Pecks, together brought the heat with their back-to-back performances, setting the stage on fire.

Notable personalities from the music industry, including Prince Benjamin from Class FM, Raennie Dj from Asaase Radio, Comedian Waris, the 2018 most influential comedian and Kwame Baah, CEO of Yve Digital and Get the artiste, Ghana’s first artiste booking platform, lent their support to the event. Their presence added a touch of professionalism and expertise to the night and added to the overall buzz surrounding the EP launch.
