Hearts of Oak players must dominate Ghana’s national teams – Bernard Arthur

Date:

Former Liberty Professionals attacker Bernard Arthur has called for greater representation of Hearts of Oak players in Ghanas national teams, insisting that the clubs current performances in the Ghana Premier League deserve wider recognition. The Phobians have made an impressive start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign, sitting second in the standings with 17 points after eight matches.Impressed by their performances, Arthur believes several Hearts of Oak players possess the quality to earn national team call-ups, arguing that their representation should extend beyond the senior Black Stars to the other national teams.Speaking in an interview with Koforidua-based Swiit FM, the 29-year-old expressed concern over the limited presence of Hearts of Oak players in Ghanas national teams, with goalkeeper Benjamin Asare being the notable exception. For some time now, I have been following Hearts of Oak and the Ghana Premier League as a whole, and I have seen a lot of talent, particularly in the Hearts of Oak team. They are currently second in the league standings, and we are talking about one of the biggest clubs in Africa. Yet, none of their players are in the various national teams, with the exception of Benjamin Asare. I do not think that speaks well of the situation.Their players should be dominating the national teams, not just the Black Stars. I believe that would also boost their confidence and motivate them to do more, he said.
