Ganiu Bentil starts as Ghana face Benin in WAFU Zone B U-17 qualifier

Date:

Black Starlets head coach Kassim Ocansey has named Ganiu Bentil in Ghanas starting line-up for their second group match against Benin in the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Bentil replaces Daniel Owusu, who suffered an injury during Ghanas opening fixture against Togo.

Bless Dogah keeps his place in goal, with Bentil joining Osman Seidu, Abdul Rafiu Issah and Osman Hamid in the defensive line.

Yaw Acheampong, Rushid Swallah, Abdul Latif Wunzalgu and David Kwarteng make up the midfield as Ghana look to control the match, create chances and find the net against their West African neighbours.

Issah Alidu and Hope Agbase will lead the attack, with the Black Starlets aiming for a second successive victory and a place in the semi-finals.

Ghana began their qualifying campaign at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Boys Championship with a 1-0 win over Togo.

The tournament also acts as the qualifying competition for the 2027 U-17 AFCON, making each group match important to Ghanas hopes of reaching the continental finals.
