Como sign defender Chalobah from Chelsea

Date:

Italian club Como have signed defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a deal worth more than £30m.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas’ side, who secured Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.

Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m, with a further £5.1m available in add-ons following protracted negotiations.

The centre-back, who has two senior England caps and was a late call-up to their World Cup squad, leaves his boyhood team after nearly 20 years, having joined Chelsea as a child.

“Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club,” said Fabregas, who was briefly a team-mate of the centre-back during his time at Stamford Bridge.

“He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.”

Chalobah said: “I’m thrilled and honored to be here at Como: it’s an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special.”

The England international made 151 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea and won five trophies, including the FA Cup in 2018 and Conference League in 2025.

He also had loan spells with Ipswich, Huddersfield, Lorient and Crystal Palace.
