Lauren Bennett, ‘Party Rock Anthem’ Singer, Dies at 37

Date:

Lauren Bennett, the British singer best known for lending her vocals to LMFAO’s chart-dominating 2011 hit Party Rock Anthem, has died at the age of 37.

Her passing was confirmed on Monday by her former group G.R.L. in a statement shared on Instagram. “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the group wrote. “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.” No cause of death has been announced.

Bennett rose to global recognition through Party Rock Anthem, one of the defining pop hits of the 2010s. The song spent six weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and was later ranked by Billboard among the biggest songs in the chart’s history. She also appeared in the track’s blockbuster music video, which has surpassed 2.5 billion views on YouTube.

In 2014, Bennett joined G.R.L., the girl group created by choreographer Robin Antin as a new pop act following the success of The Pussycat Dolls. The group scored fan favorites including Ugly Heart and collaborated with Pitbull on Wild Wild Love. Bennett was also a member of Paradiso Girls and contributed vocals to the soundtracks for Date Night and 21 Jump Street.

Tributes have continued to pour in from those who worked closely with the singer. “We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us,” G.R.L. said in its statement, adding that her “beautiful spirit touched so many lives.” Former Paradiso Girls bandmate Aria Crescendo also paid tribute, writing on Instagram, “RIP Lauren, my sister, my best friend… Love you and miss you forever.”
